Merger proposal

I propose that Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula be merged into Ansar al-Sharia (Yemen), as the later has rebranded itself to the former according to both the US Government and the Jihadists. All media statements etc. are now being released in the name of Ansar al-Sharia, and as time goes on it will become difficult and somewhat pointless to keep both articles up to date with the same content. Merger II

Per reasons described by Gazkthul, the article needs to be merged. It is the same organisation as AQAP, as the U.S State Department notes and the article is so useless in that there is no unique information not already found in the AQAP article. StanMan87 (talk) 04:23, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Then the article should be merged into AQAP. However, they are still slightly different, and there are multiple terrorist organizations with the name "Ansar al-Sharia", so no, this is not a good idea. LightandDark2000 (talk) 02:33, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

It should be merged into the AQAP article for the reasons cited above. They are not different, they are exactly the same article with the same references with the same information in the info-box. Just the complete lack of information illustrates this fact that the two are entirely the same, as there is no point copying and pasting from AQAP and putting into this article. This group is slightly different, being that it is primarily a coalition of forces from multiple Terrorist groups, most notably from AQAP. Although the group may have merged into AQAP, I haven't seen any sources confirming this, and this group did have a different origin than that of AQAP, so this group is somewhat different. In any case, this group close coordination with the al-Qaeda affiliate, it is not synonymous with AQAP. LightandDark2000 (talk) 08:28, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
