- ... that almost everyone and everything that travels to Antarctica has to travel through one of five gateway cities? Source: According to a 2021 report from Western Sydney University, "The cities of Cape Town, Christchurch, Hobart, Punta Arenas, and Ushuaia are formally recognized international gateway cities through which flows most travel to the Antarctic region. All significant engagement with the South Polar region is co-ordinated through them."

- Comment - I'd love to review this later in the evening if you don't mind (I have an engagement tonight so I'll get back to this later today!) but as a quick comment, its important that you link the article in the DYK proper, I'd suggest one of five gateway cities, or just simply "gateway cities" Ornithoptera (talk) 01:28, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Thanks! This is my first time doing this. I've updated it per your suggestion.
- My bad, I should have worded it better, I edited the hook myself since I wasn't clear enough oops. You should provide a link to the source in the future, and the article in question needs to be linked in the hook proper. I'll proceed with the review now, sorry for the late reply, been a busy day yesterday!

QPQ: None required. |
Overall: @Federalwafer: QPQ exempt (1 of 5), first nomination. "Heroic Age Expeditions through Antarctic Gateway Cities" table needs sources. Sources needed as well as chunks of the Punta Arenas, Cape Town, Hobart, and Christchurch subsections. Quote for "very/fairly important to the city's identity." needs source (quotes need direct source after each one). Apart from that, there seems to be no major issues apart from these small bits that I've outlined. Ping me when you're done fixing these smaller issues and you should be set! Welcome to DYK, I hope your journey here is fun and enjoyable! I'm wishing the best for you moving forwards, and hope you have a blast! Ornithoptera (talk) 12:01, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Ornithoptera: Thanks. I think I've corrected and sourced all the spots you mentioned.Federalwafer (talk) 20:57, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Federalwafer: Checks out! Welcome to DYK, I hope you enjoy your time here! Great working with you and thank you for your hard work! Ornithoptera (talk) 06:33, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Flag icons
editThough national flags wouldn't fit for the cities themselves, maybe it would actually make sense to have flag icons for where each of the national programs is based.--Pharos (talk) 17:55, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Lat/long screwup, me bad
editSorry, sorry, did not read closely enough, expected the cities to be enumerated by latitude, not longitude. I'll go away now :-) Dr.gregory.retzlaff (talk) 01:33, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
