editBorn 1550, enlisted to Cambridge University in 1562 - at age 12? Does anybody believe this crap? --85.180.151.41 23:24, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
- According to http://www.hoasm.org/IVM/Holborne.html the date of birth is more likely to be around 1545, meaning that he became a student at around 17 - much more reasonable Bluap 04:08, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Age 12 does seem early, even for these times. But Sweelinck was appointed organist of Amsterdam Cathedral when he was hardly 15. There are other instances of adolescent prodigies. It isn't necessarily all "crap". These were magical times for the arts. Nick Michael (talk) 22:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
