I don't have a reference (yet) but I doubt that the beetle feeds on synthetic carpet. I lived in an apartment which had wool carpeting and I saw them. In addition and in the same apartment, the plaster was reinforced with horse hair and the little critters probably thought this was tasty also.

Moreover, if there is conflict between this beetle and other species/other organisms could help develop a deeper understanding of the species.Reply
