A mess of similarly named articles
editWe currently have:
- Anthropogenic, formerly a redirect to Human impact on the environment but now a disambig pointing to both that page and anthropogeny
- Anthropogenics, redirecting to Human impact on the environment
- Anthropogeny, clearly different from Anthropogenics
- Anthropization, headed Not to be confused with Anthropogenics or Anthropogeny but as far as I can tell the content is a subset of Human impact on the environment
- Human impact on the environment, headed by the (now false) statement "Anthropogenic" redirects here and then It is not to be confused with Anthropogeny or Anthropization.
I'm far from being an expert on any of these subjects, so I'm not inclined to move things around further. But it seems to me that this situation can be improved upon! Jowa fan (talk) 09:42, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
This page shouldn't be a redirect
editThis page shouldn't be a redirect to Human impact on the environment, since many things are "anthropogenic", not just impacts on the environment. Skepticalgiraffe (talk) 14:51, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- I checked the first of many "what links here", and found Atlantic Ocean says:
North Atlantic hurricane activity has increased over past decades because of increased sea surface temperature (SST) at tropical latitudes, changes that can be attributed to either the natural Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) or to anthropogenic climate change.
- Per WP:SPECIFICLINK, the two less-specific links to anthropogenic and climate change should be changed to the single, more specific link anthropogenic climate change.
- Atlantic multidecadal oscillation says:
While there is some support for this mode in models and in historical observations, controversy exists with regard to its amplitude, and in particular, the attribution of sea surface temperature change to natural or anthropogenic causes
- In this case it appears the reader would be best served by a direct link to Wiktionary, as anthropogenic is not a common, everyday word. I'm assuming that this is why the editor created that wikilink. – wbm1058 (talk) 20:02, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
