editI believe the "ae" in "Antigonae" is a digraph, as used by Orff, and I believe the title is not "Antigonae" but "Antigonae-Legend," as it appears on the score and multi-LP set. It is worth doing some research (and discussion here) before page moves such as these. Badagnani (talk) 03:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
WorldCat shows "Antigonæ ein Trauerspiel des Sophokles" as the title, as it appears on the old multi-LP set. Badagnani (talk) 03:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes I did the research: Erik Levi in Grove gives Antigonae. He may of course be wrong or the æ might just be a typographers decoration. If you have access to a library you can check W Keller Carl Orffs Antigonae (Mainz 1950). That's close to the premiere so it should be reliable. --Kleinzach 03:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
If it's a digraph on both the score and recording (both of which I have somewhere), I should think it was likely the composer's wish to have it thus, and the way he wrote it on his manuscript. Badagnani (talk) 04:00, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
"Antigone-Legend" was a red herring; that's Frederic Rzewski's setting. So ignore that comment. Badagnani (talk) 04:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you think 'Antigonæ' is authoritative I don't have any objection to you moving it. In any case it will create a useful redirect. --Kleinzach 04:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC) P.S. The article could do with some good references. --Kleinzach 04:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, I think we'll just have to check first. Badagnani (talk) 04:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
