clumsy first sentence
editI've tried to improve the first sentence but it has been reverted. The sentence has a few serious problems-
- 1 "nearly always used in the plural in this sense" is not true. "it is an antiquity" is normal usage (1.5 million results on google[1])
- 2 "in this sense" comes before anyone knows what the sense is. It is poor writing.
- 3 WP:REFERS The article is about antiquities, not "the term". Bhny (talk) 01:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
Illegal trading
editThis now retitled section was substandard and needed rewriting.
- The Getty bronze youth had a poor reference and was misplaced under forgeries
- There was no reference for the assertion about the kigano trade, which in any case is in forged antiques, not antiquities. A distinction between the two is made earlier in the article.
- The assertion about ISOL's activities was an unsubstantiated piece of journalism mostly based on supposition. By itself it did not prove a link between such trading and terrorism as a whole, as claimed. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 10:28, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Collectors of antiquities
editNeeded: a category for collectors of antiquities, as opposed to Category:Antiquarians. Should be a subcategory of Category:Collectors. Could conceivably be construed as a subcategory of Category:Art collectors. 07:38, 7 November 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.117.23 (talk)
