Underground railroad

edit

According to my Grandmother Marie Louise LeClaire Anderson, Antoine LeClaire's Great, great grand-niece, the widows walk on top of the house was lit at night to help runaway slaves navigate the Mississippi river from the Illinois side to the Iowa side. This is Oral History, so I don't know if it is accurate.

The National Register nomination form mentions his possible participation in the Underground Railroad. It does not give any of the details above, but I included this possibility in the history section. Farragutful (talk) 22:06, 24 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
