When creating this article I stated that Barten was Belgian based on this source, which says he is Flemish. The newly added sources + date of birth seem convincing enough to indicate he is Dutch. Crispulop (talk) 17:28, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
As his grandson, I can confirm he had the Dutch nationality from birth. He never naturalized to Belgian nationality, even though he has been based in Leuven, Belgium for the latter part of his career. I will try to find a source later. GJacobs (talk) 13:00, 24 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
