Fixing this article

edit

Hi Jungle, and welcome to Wikipedia, I'm very glad you're here, because we need more people around who have expertise in robotics. For some reason, people don't let me make the rules around here :) And here are the rules: in order not to have this article deleted, we need to deal with three problems. This is probably the minimum we need:

  • Either the product or your company needs to have been mentioned in a reliable source, such as a newspaper or book. A few web sites are considered reliable sources around here, but not many.
  • If we can only find one such source, it needs to be pretty spectacular. It needs to make an argument that your product is important in the industry, and it needs to make the case believably. That's called notability.
  • If we can fix those two problems, then the article needs to be largely based on what we can get from the reliable sources. The article needs to have a balanced tone, and not appear to be promotional. This is a longer-term project; the first two points have to be addressed immediately. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 13:57, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. My position is, I don't want this information to disappear; what I want is to see a solid discussion and comparison of the different robotics simulators. This would help Wikipedia a lot; our coverage of robotics is not good. Some of the detailed things that we can't find references for might belong at en.wikiversity.org instead of here; I'm not sure, but I think they would really like this. When we can find references that back up what's being said about your simulator and the other simulators, we should be able to keep all of the material, although some of the more technical material should probably be at en.wikibooks.org, but that's okay, we can link to wikibooks so that people will be able to read it. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 14:09, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just would like to add my two cents in saying that articles like this are very helpful for the people like me interested in robotics that use Wikipedia as a useful tool. If it gets deleted, Wikipedia would be less useful. Sometimes rules have to serve the user and not the opposite.
