Recent page move

edit

It would be nice if a proposed page move gets discussed first, rather than just doing it. It says in the page history:

"Christchurch" is unnecessary, since there is no other article named "Aorangi School".

That's correct, but only for the time being, as there's an Aorangi School in Rotorua. I wouldn't have thought that it's sensible to move pages, only to move them back when somebody sets up the page for the other school. Also, I suggest that whoever moves pages should also deal with the incoming links. Schwede66 05:52, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Schwede66. I wasn't aware of another school by that name, but even so disambiguators are generally unnecessary while there remains only one article by that name on Wikipedia. Most editors wouldn't worry about the disambiguator too much (more so with an explanatory note on the talk page), but nor would many consider a page move to remove it as controversial (hence the lack of discussion). Of course, if an article is created for the Rotorua school, then {{db-move}} can be added to Aorangi School, Christchurch; this discussion constitutes a consensus. Pages linking to the current redirect can probably remain as is, per WP:R2D and pending the publication of the "Aorangi School, Rotorua" article, although you're more than welcome to redirect them if you'd like.
