Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL One of the difficulties with understanding meanings of statements by Greek philosophers is our ignorance of their technical language. This was based on analogy to material objects and situtions. For example 'water' meant 'gravity'. The word 'apeiron' cannot be understood as 'unlimited', 'infinite' or 'indefinite' because these expressions can be symbolised by (oo), using today's mathematical symblism. The symbol (oo) refers to 'plurality' which is unlimited and undefined. The plurality (oo) is related to dynamism in the form of continuous, quantitative change. This has nothing to do with meaning of Anaximander's statement 'apairon' as the static medium of the beginning(arche). The correct meaning of Apeiron', using todsays symbolism, is Nothingness. In mathematics it is noted as '0'. (89.243.82.96 (talk) 22:01, 14 December 2009 (UTC)) My apology. I forgot to sign the contribution. I am doing it now. This article is very poor
editIt is a mess. Meaningless sentences like “Justice has to destroy everything which is born” are strewn around without context. The article reads like a compilation of various paragraphs copy pasted from various sources without structure.
The English language used is also very poor. 200 year old archaic words like “whence” are used instead of “From where” mixed in with non existent words like “unlimitable”. I assume the writer tried to write “limitless”.
This article needs an overhaul. 85.148.213.144 (talk) 01:35, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
