The picture that has been added to this article of Appleby's "Market Square" is slightly incorrect as Appleby doesnt have a street called Market Square and the picture is actually of Boroughgate and I have changed the caption Penrithguy 16:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dialect

edit

The article says: "The Appleby dialect is a diasystem of the Cumbrian dialect spoken around the Penrith and Eden district area." If the Wikipedia entry for diasystem is correct, this usage of diasystem is not correct. I'd suggest "variant" or something similar, but maybe there's a correct linguistic term for that. (I'm not a native speaker, but I can't detect any difference between the way words are used in Penrith and Appleby. If the dialect (not necessarily the accent) is the same, there's no need for any distinction in any case.) Northernhenge (talk) 23:19, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

This link was added to the article after discussion on the WP Reliable Sources Noticeboard. See: WP:RSN exercise. No information from the CCHT link has been put into the body of the article in the form of citations because it has not yet been verified for 100% accuracy by the Victoria County History project for Cumbria. (This will take some years to do). Laplacemat (talk) 17:08, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Local government

edit

This part of the article is badly layed out could someone with the skills resolve it TMN81 (talk) 20:42, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Done. You closed a ref tag with \ref when it should be /ref. This was immediately before the local government section which then ended up included in reference number 4. --Northernhenge (talk) 15:33, 28 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Appleby Jazz Festival

edit

I would like to add the Appleby Jazz Festival in the Event section, but I have a limited list of references (1, 2, 3, 4, ...): any additional source?
