Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because I am still working on finding references and reliable sources, both offline and online. I redirected the page back to "User:Gmhayes4/April Masini" to continue editing the page. Thank you. --G|M|Hayes| 06:01, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- You are correct that it should not be deleted under G4 or any other speedy criteria. Please continue to improve it if you can. --ThaddeusB (talk) 05:11, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- I still feel that this article should be deleted as it does not meet notability requirements and the authorship is essentially limited to one paid PR person. My message on the deletion discussion section was meant to be constructive. I'm not questioning the author's ability to construct wikipedia articles written to dot the Is and cross the Ts to avoid deletion.
- If the subject were notable enough on her own, would not fans write the page and contribute along the way? Further, the article has been deleted more than once prior to this - to me more proof demonstrating the subject does not pass the notability test. A poorly written article alone would not justify deletion - just major reworking.
- The question here is A) notability and B) the article contributors. A promotional piece may be written in a way to simply share information about a less than notable subject. I could construct a very well written, factual, and in fact objective article about a teenage babysitter who happens to play the saxophone, won the role of an oak tree in a school play, came in third in a relay race, and shares her feelings on her Facebook page. The quality of the writing, nor the resume of an individual independently nor in sum inherently meet the notability test. Further, there is one primary author here - even to the point she petitioned to keep the page because of the work she put into it. Wikipedia is not intended to be a place to showcase writing ability: it's about the good of the commons and creating something for public benefit. Creating paid pieces to raise awareness of celebrity wannabees does not meet that test. Bromeliad39 (talk) 16:38, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- To avoid G4 speedy deletion, all that is required is that the article be improved from the deleted version in some way. This article fulfills that requirement because it has been rewritten with new references. Notability does not enter into speedy deletion, nor is an (alleged) COI a valid reason in and of itself to delete. (Not does lack of speedy deletion say anything about whether the subject is notable.) Also, previous deletions are very poor evidence of anything as articles are deleted for a wide variety of reasons unrelated to notability. --ThaddeusB (talk) 19:24, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Masini Florida Residence
editApril Masini does not live in Naples, Florida. The Lee County Property Appraiser lists her address as follows: 18161 Lagos Way in LEE COUNTY in BONITA SPRINGS. She pays taxes to a number of LEE COUNTY taxing authorities as well as the city of Bonita Springs and Bonita Springs Fire District.
Further, the city of Naples is limited to a small area near the Gulf of Mexico and south of Pine Ridge Road in Collier County. No part of the city of Naples extends north of Pine Ridge Road, nor does any part of it extend to Lee County. Bromeliad39 (talk) 16:32, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- How do you know where she lives, and why is it relevant to the article?GMHayes (talk) 21:36, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- Public records are easily available from an internet search. It's easy to locate where anyone lives, under what taxing authorities they are covered, and in what municipality they live. It is relevant to accuracy of the article, but frankly, the subject of the article isn't notable so this should be moot. However, if the article were to survive the deletion proceedings it should not list a false residence. It's ironic, had you not made the incorrect reference to Naples, I would have never seen this page. Bromeliad39 (talk) 22:08, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's inappropriate to dig through public records to use in a Wikipedia article, per Wikipedia:BLP#Misuse_of_primary_sources. BLP policy is not negotiable. Since the location information was originally unsourced, I've gone ahead and removed it. Feel free to readd location information if you can find a third party source that talks about it; don't use public records. Kevin (kgorman-ucb) (talk) 22:20, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- My most sincere apologies, I was not aware of the BLP policy. It was a point of contention that the subject lives in Naples, Florida when in fact she does not. The fact remains that her property is in Bonita Springs in Lee County, not in the City of Naples. Bromeliad39 (talk) 22:59, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Requested move
editUser:Gmhayes4/April Masini → April Masini – I have rewritten this page to emphasize the subject's career as a notable advice columnist. Her opinions have indeed been sought by a wide range of reliable media, including print and television news media such as the NYT, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, ABC, Fox News, etc. I have checked sources and links and done some searching on the web to make sure the information is accurate. I think the page is ready to be moved to the mainspace.Srelyea (talk) 16:38, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Needs a POV brush-up / tone-down
editThis article reads like the woman's personal bio or a cheesy press release. The first half of the details section - the part detailing her dating advice career - especially needs a serious NPOV review because it sounds like it was written by a little boy with a huge crush on her. ♣♦ SmartGuy ♥♠ (talk) 06:13, 22 July 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SmartGuy (talk • contribs)
- I made some changes to remove possibly biased language. If there are other issues that need to be addressed, please be specific in pointing out the problems.
Srelyea (talk) 16:39, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Are there any other NPOV issues that need to be taken care of? Discussion seems to have stopped so I can't tell if this is an ongoing issue. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 00:40, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm working on some revisions to reduce the number of references to sources affiliated with the subject. Please note that the page includes many references to third-party sources as well. Srelyea (talk) 20:28, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Are there other NPOV or sourcing issues that need to be fixed? If there is no further discussion, the tags should be removed from this page. Srelyea (talk) 14:39, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I agree. The entire piece reads like the work of a paid public relations flack -- paid for by April Masini 66.162.249.170 (talk) 02:31, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
