Overview

Aptiv PLC (formerly known as Delphi Automotive PLC) is a global automotive technology company that engages in the development of active safety technologies and self-driving cars, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland [3]. It has 147,000 employees globally, and a market capitalization of $22 billion [4]. On 5 December 2017, Delphi Automotive changed its name to Aptiv PLC, after spinning off a new company, Delphi Technologies PLC. Aptiv PLC changed its ticker symbol to APTV, while Delphi Technologies continues to be traded as DLPH [5].

First Coast - to - Coast Autonomous Drive

In April 2015, a fully equipped Audi Q5 made the 3,500 mile journey from San Francisco to New York City, in about a week. It was the longest trip an autonomous car had made at the time. With a human driver behind the wheel in case assistance was needed, it made the journey through varying terrain and weather conditions to collect data to continue progress on the development of active safety technologies [10].


Singapore AMoD Pilot Program

Singapore Land Transport Authority selected Aptiv (as Delphi Automotive) for their Autonomous Vehicle Mobility on Demand program. In a three year test, six Audi SQ5s will travel five miles on three fixed routes. The program plans to gradually eliminate drivers and steering wheels, introducing a commercial driverless taxi service by 2022 [11].

Go Boston 2030

With the addition of their technology center in Boston, Massachusetts, Aptiv is partnering with the city in their Go Boston 2030 initiative. This initiative is aimed at developing a more efficient transportation network in the city through leveraging automated mobility, which Aptiv will provide access to through their mobility solutions [12][13].

Lyft

Debuted at CES 2018, Lyft and Aptiv partnered to bring eight self-driving BMW 5-Series to Las Vegas to display the real-world viability of self-driving technology (7). These cars provided over 400 rides during the 5-day show, with 99 percent of the miles driven in fully autonomous mode. This pilot program is expected to be expanded beyond CES in Las Vegas, as well as expanding it to a second US market [14][15].

Transdev

French transport company Transdev partnered with Aptiv (as Delphi Automotive) to bring autonomous taxis and shuttle vans to France. Two autonomous taxis will be in Rouen, Normandy, and a shuttle van will run between a rail station and campus in the university district of Paris-Saclay. Both will start with human drivers on board but plan to go fully autonomous in 2018. The shuttle van won’t have a steering wheel or pedals, and the human driver will be on board solely to communicate with passengers. All vehicles will be able to be controlled from an operations center. Transdev plans to gradually spread autonomous vehicles throughout Paris and other cities in France [16].

I submit for your consideration the following text changes to the Aptiv page. We tried very hard to keep the tone objective and factual, but understand if any portion has to be edited to remove bias. However, as you have provided instructions regarding the text that is to be added, you have not specified which text is to be removed. Is there any text which needs to be removed as out of date? Or does everything in the article as it stands now already present as up-to-date? In which case, is the text being added the only information being updated? Sorry for the confusion. @Spintendo: Thanks for your help on this! The content that I was referring to as needing to be up-to-date (and to replace old information) is primarily the key information, like Headquarters location. Because of the recent changes within the company (spinoff from Delphi and move of HQ) these pieces of information are important to keep fresh to avoid confusion. Additionally, as Aptiv continues to solidify its operations, product/service offering, and overall brand identity we are submitting updated content in these areas as well -- not to replace the older Delphi information, since that is a valid part of the company's history, but to share the current/relevant info about the company. Other than the key info at the beginning, we aren't requesting that any information be 'replaced' -- rather, maybe pushed down to make room for the most relevant info.
