1. One of the unique sources I found interesting for our chosen topic 'Arab Cinema' is the journal article 'Arab Cinema' by Guy Hennebelle. What's interesting about this article is that it is written by a French film critic who discusses the development of the Arab cinema and provides a summary on the history of the Arab cinema since it might be our main area of focus in our chosen topic. Moreover, the author also argues on how the production of the Arab cinema declined due to the effects of colonialism and other political issues in the Arab history such as the Egyptian revolution and the Palestinian crisis. The author also talks about the role of the Arab cinema in the modern world especially with the domination of the Hollywood companies. This source will help to develop our basic understanding of the Arab which will act as cinema as a base for our article.

2. Another source I found interesting for our chosen topic 'Arab Cinema' is the journal article "ORIGINS AND PATTERNS IN THE DISCOURSE OF NEW ARAB CINEMA" by Malek Khouri an assistant Professor of Film Studies at the University of Calgary. The author discuses the state of the 'New Arab Cinema' as a modernist continuum and its relation to the notion of modernity as seen by Arab intellectuals during the period of the Arab Renaissance. Moreover, the also argues how the New Arab Cinema emerged and whether it represents the Arab national identity. He also talks about its how the films narratives reflect the social content of its era in terms of issues related to religion, anti-colonialism and Palestine. This source acts as a guide to the contemporary Arab cinema.

3. The journal article "THE POLITICS OF ARAB CINEMA: MIDDLE EASTERN FILMMAKERS FACE UP TO THEIR REALITY" by Nana Asfour discuses the state of the 'Arab Cinema' in the contemporary worlds. The author talks about how the Arab cinema is declining especially with the domination of Hollywood companies and is pushed out by American imports. Moreover, them many filmmakers from different Middle Eastern countries had held a meeting as their were concerned with the current state of the Arab cinema. In fact, one other have mentioned how the Egyptian cinema used to produce over sixty films in 1960's and now it barley produces a dozen a year. This article is beneficial as it show us the current position of the Arab cinema and the how the filmmakers are concerned about the future of the Arab cinema.

Hemyan's Peer Review

Carthage film festival description looks incomplete Good use of visuals such as images with descriptions Clear structure The overview is clear and to the point. Good use of sources Sections are organized and relevant to the topic — Preceding unsigned comment added by HemyanAlHardan (talkcontribs) 15:14, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

Noora's Peer Review

The article overall has a clear structure and is easy to navigate through. However, it is too focused on festivals and might be stronger if you looked into other aspects that made the Arabic Cinema what it is today, maybe like how Qatar is supporting and funding various films that get hosted in these film festivals? Visuals are a good touch to the article. It would also be interesting if the article talked about why the film festivals, such as Doha Tribeca, was canceled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nooranalthani (talkcontribs) 19:08, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

Aisha Al-Thani's Peer Review on Arab Cinema

There is quite a lot of generalization in the Overview subheading paragraph (the opening sentence). It starts off with a statement that sounds like an argument, and the estimate “|three quarters” is a gathered statistic that is also from an unknown source. There should be a specific percentage that is more accurate, and I am sure there are statistics out there. Perhaps include a section with award winning Arab films or award winning Arab directors and producers? Compare Arab Cinema to other cinemas of the globe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aisha Hamad Al Thani (talkcontribs) 19:39, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

Current State of the Arab Cinema

Hi everyone, the last section on the Current State of the Arab Cinema is certainly a worthwhile topic. But to refer only and very extensively to one magazine article from the year 2000 is certainly not satisfying. - Don't have the time or knowledge to rewrite this, but if someone else could update this, it would do the current state much justice. - Also, the prolific production of videos by Arabic filmmakers and their sharing over the internet should be mentioned.
