Any reason why none of these birds are called conures here? cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 03:56, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some were called conures, but the term "conure", as now explained by the article, is primarily used in birdkeeping, and almost all formal scientific sources use "parakeet". This dichotomy is further discussed in the article Conure. XarBiogeek 03:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, i'm writing to inform that the popular name of several of these species is Jandaia, usually written as Jandaya in the scientificic naming. That can be read in the Portuguese version of the article.

I'm no biologist, so the warning.

Peace,

List of Aratinga parakeets merge

edit

I am proposing the above article be merged with Aratinga. All of the content of List of Aratinga parakeets would fit nicely in the Aratinga article. The number of Aratinga species is now substantially lower with genera splits. In addition, the List of Aratinga parakeets is out of date, and would be easier to maintain by merging into Aratinga.....Pvmoutside (talk) 21:40, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I support the proposed merger. Details of the 6 species in the genus can easily be accommodated within this article. With all the recent changes in taxonomy the maintenance of Wikipedia articles is a serious issue. Having one less article to update is always welcome. Aa77zz (talk) 11:14, 16 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
