editThe need for palladium to build the arc reactor is noteworthy. Can it be confirmed that this is a nod to cold fusion research that also uses palladium as an electrode?
Well, if I had to guess, the palladium appeared to be used in a component on the collection side of the device. It looked to me, like the ring made from it was built into a capacitor of a sort. But then again, it's based mostly on concepts garnered from the Star Gate. In particular the time one was made from terrestrial materials, the device Stark allegedly made with the palladium looked a lot like that and Star Gates are described as being little more than superconductors, used as capacitors.
On another note, the large version looked much like the proposed fusion reactor design, but without a good deal of what is most likely containment devices, as the reaction chamber is open to view. Greatak (talk) 22:29, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
After just watching the movie Iron Man, the device that was referred to as a 'Arc Reactor' is no different than that of a Tokamak Fusion reactor. Of course there are design differences between the 'Arc' reactor and that of a Tokamak, but I am rather certain that is just a part of movie cinema.
Being that 'Stark Industries" was a weapon developer and supplier to the American War Machine, it would only be prudent that they would not call such a innovation a Tokamak, and naming such a device after a Russian scientist would not be all that American.
Therefore, as this article itself is written, it only reflects the vision of the movie, the device itself, and hence this page should be redirected to sister device; the Tokamak Fusion Reactor. 216.223.16.33 (talk) 02:11, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
If the article does redirect to that of the Tokamak Fusion Reactor, the existing article should be folded into that article. It could possibly be in a section entitled "Fictional Uses" or somesuch. Gilmourd (talk) 16:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Article merged into Iron Man's armor
editPlease put any further discussion into that article's talk page, and any further content into its section of that article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgaughan (talk • contribs) 12:09, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Proposing to add information Arc Reactor
editDear sir/Madam, For whomsoever it is, I here to request you to review information from the following link, which would be useful for Designing Arc Reactor. https://www.quora.com/What-is-theory-concept-behind-the-Miniature-Arc-Reactor-built-by-Tony-Stark.
