editThis article is seriously in need of some TLC. The part on classical Arcadia (utopia) needs references, while the part on Arcadia in modern life has taken on a life of its own and should possibly be relegated to Arcadia (disambiguation) which in fact covers much of the same ground.
How about we move/merge the In modern life section to the disambiguation page? Still leaves the refs issue. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:14, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that TLC is needed. The article starts well, but the "Modern Usage" section is definitely problematic. Whereas the theme of previous sections is to show how visions of Arcadia developed over time, the Modern Usage section is little more than a list of references to Arcadia. It just doesn't fit in well with the other material.
- Instead of merging that section with the disambiguation page, I'd rather see it re-written by a careful hand. My approach would be to discuss a couple of modern examples in greater depth, and link them explicitly to the classical and Renaissance sections. The point of this article should be to trace the development and expression of the idea of Arcadia. Examples should highlight important shifts in interpretation, not be ends unto themselves.
- By the way, it would be nice to have an image of the real Arcadia to contrast with the romantic northern European scenes that are presented. Nojamus (talk) 18:31, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
