Colonel in 1918?

The article states that Christie was Lieutenant in 1913 and Colonel in 1918. Was it really possible in WW1 to get promoted so quickly at age 29? I seriously doubt it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.193.95.127 (talk) 16:22, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

Trench warfare, gas attacks, and the advent of the machinegun decimated the British ranks. Possibly he was brevetted, received "battlefield" promotions, as officers were lost. rags (talk) 03:48, 28 May 2018 (UTC) rags (talk) 03:48, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
