The family name, "Gubbrud," was derived for the Norwegian words for "golden bridge."

This is very, very unlikely. "-rud" is a very normal ending for Norwegian names/farms, and derives from "rydning", which means "clearing". "Gubb" might be related to "gubbe", which means "old man".
