How is this a volcano? From reading the article, I get the impression that it may have been a volcano millions of years ago, but by what definition of volcano is this area currently volcanic? Adam Bishop 00:48, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Charlemagne's Nightmare

edit

The reference to Charlemagne's nightmare before Roncevaux Pass needs further explanation. The section does seem to claim that the Ardennes used to be larger. However, Roncevaux Pass is in the Pyrenees on the border with modern Spain. Unless the Ardennes used to extend throughout ALL of modern France, this make no sense geographically; in my opinion it would be better omitted unless it can be explained. Charlemagne couldn't have slept in the Ardennes the night before a battle at Roncevaux Pass ... the locations are too far apart. Ardennes pronunciation

edit

I think it would be better if somebody were to put the IPA pronunciation for the word, instead of just "ar-DEN".--Tabun1015 19:48, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

what is this for kind of reference? It seems impossible to determine what the original source is? Gerrard means nothing to the average person, including me.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.181.49.219 (talk)

This appears to have been rectified. RenaissongsMan 18:56, 16 May 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Renaissongsman (talkcontribs)

Types of Rock

edit

If anyone has more information about the types of rock, rather than just the age and period of the rock forming, that would be very nice for the Geology section. I was there and was trying to figure out what those rocks were. Devonian we knew: you could find plenty of shell fossil imprints. But was is granite, basalt, sandstone? We didn't know. They build houses out of it in Belgium. 80.101.162.155 (talk) 09:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ardennes' highest summit

edit

The article lacks the most basic information: what's the highest peak of those mountains and how high it is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.12.91.242 (talk) 16:55, 1 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Map

edit

I don't know how to modify this, but the first map, with the orange zone, is wrong. It doesn't go this far south in Belgium (see the other map). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.89.72.1 (talk) 13:41, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Most populous cities?

edit

Currently the Geography section has a sentence that reads, "Its most populous cities are Verviers in Belgium and Charleville-Mézières in France, both exceeding 50,000 inhabitants."

But isn't Liège in the Ardennes? Wikinetman (talk) 21:21, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
