415 can't possibly have been created in 1947, etc. 207.114.132.30 (talk) 00:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Parent to Area Code 209?fsdjfb jk The article mentions that 415 is the parent to 209. On both 209's page and 916's page, there is the claim that 209 is the child of 916. Which is correct? Are both correct (I don't know of a situation where an area code has been formed from parts of two others, but I haven't looked into the early history of area codes. 151.203.43.194 17:55, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- There were indeed a few such creations in the early days, but not in California, though the trisection (213, 415, 916) was rearranged from the first proposal. —Tamfang (talk) 06:19, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
It was split from 916. I have corrected the Area code 415 article. Andrewn 01:43, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not gay, but I only changed my number because I moved out of state.

"Map to the right"?
editThe two maps are stacked vertically. What does "map to the right" mean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.147.126.205 (talk) 12:46, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
The inset map for San Francisco has the overlay area code as 828 not 628. This is an error. I’m not a graphics person so I can’t easily correct it. Mike (talk) 23:20, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

What happened to 4-0-8?
editI’m pretty sure 408 didn’t disappear and probably holds more numbers than any of the others listed, so I don’t know that the map is all that accurate, but that’s not what this discussion is about so I’m just realizing I’m kind of being a dick here. My bad. But really, outside of LA, it probably has more numbers. 2600:1011:B069:E036:7D0D:8D69:D2B6:8D83 (talk) 19:41, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
