Unconscious

edit

The full text of the story is online here (or, if you prefer, you can google "frederic brown arena" and find the same link as I did). Do a text search for "It had come through the barrier" to jump right to the spot in question. Carson deliberately knocked himself unconscious with a rock near the end of the story when he made the realization that by doing so he could cross the barrier. However, at the time in question, he ran into the barrier when the wheeler tossed the then-unconscious and presumably dead lizard at Carson's feet after pulling off its legs. The barrier was still there. "He found that out the hard way, running head on into it and nearly knocking himself silly. He bounced back and fell." He was not knocked unconscious. My mistake. I wasn't paying enough attention and got the two incidents mixed up. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Title of story

edit

The story was published (and reprinted) as "Arena" with the quotation marks to show that Brown was not using the very strict definition of the word. I have changed this page to reflect that. Sir Rhosis (talk) 07:31, 25 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Arena 1989 film

edit

Shouldn't there be mention of the 1989 film of the same name and of any relation it has to this story? Such as was there preproduction work done toward making an adaptation of the original or is it merely a similar idea with a similar name? 68.52.233.112 (talk) 01:31, 13 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
