editWondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?

"Arkadelphia" certainly does not translate "literally" as "arc of brotherly love". Philadelphia is from "philos" (=love) and "adelphos" (=brother). Once you take away the philos, you've removed the love part. -Ben (talk) 14:59, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I noticed that the Wikipedia article about Arkadelphia AL says, "Arkadelphia was settled in the 19th century, with a post office opening in 1854." It doesn't say for how long the AL town had been called "Arkadelphia," but this casts some doubt on the suggestion that the town in AR, named in 1839, was named after the AL town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.98.198.153 (talk) 02:22, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Town's name...
editI edited the history section, which had previously expressed uncertainty about the etymology of the town's name, and suggested an alternative theory. The source actually cited though lists only one etymology of the name, and expresses no uncertainty about it at all, so I've changed the article to reflect that. -2003:CA:872B:6702:7DAC:B281:EC84:CF7 (talk) 13:51, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
