new line name

Should we move this to Armadale/Thornlie Line since that is what is called on the timetables, then also create a Thornlie Line page and redirect it to the new page? Sandstorm6299 07:28, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

I think there's no need for doing the redirect the current Armadale Line into the new page, see the page that's link's to here. It's because [Thornlie Line] is shares part of [Armadale Line]. And my suggestion is create the new Thornlie Line page to redirect into Armadale Line page, and in the content say it is Armadale - Thornlie Line. Also, according to the current version of link list to Armadale Line, someone have already done for that: [Armadale / Thornlie Line → Armadale Line] and [Thornlie Line → Armadale Line]. And the new sticker in the trains shows that is [Armadale Line], it's not either [Armadale / Thornlie Line] nor [Thornlie Line] inside the trains. --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 01:05, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

@Shinjiman and Sandstorm6299: Now that the Thornlie Line is being extended to Cockburn Central, it is time to separate the Armadale and Thornlie lines because the spur is evolving into a line. Betterkeks (talk) 02:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

Kelmscott

The Kelmscott Interchange page says it was one of the original stations on the line. This page says it was the last station to be opened (before Thornlie). What is right? One of them needs to be changed. (JROBBO 06:19, 7 August 2006 (UTC))

Armadale Thornlie wording

recently moved to using the spur line - I disagree with the combination of the Armadale and Thornlie names together - regardless of whether Transperth PTA have at various times provided information with the two names joined.

They are separate lines, one a main line, one a spur - as found in the beginning of the article - I believe it is misleading to combine the two together. sats 14:56, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Armadale/Thornlie railway line → Armadale and Thornlie railway lines – Since this article details two different railway lines, this title would be a better pluralising and wording. The "Armadale/Thornlie" name implies that the railway lines are a single unit with that name, when in reality the Thornlie railway line is a spur of the Armadale railway line built later. South Western Railway

This article describes the Armadale Line as a railway line from Perth to Armadale, from where the South Western Railway continues. I don't think that this is the correct way to describe the situation.

The whole route from Perth to Bunbury forms one railway line, the South Western Railway. In all the sources I could find the starting point of South Western Railway is Perth which means that the route from Perth to Armadale is a subsection of the South Western Railway. The term "Armadale Line" was introduced for the regular services terminating at Armadale but the physical railway line is still the South Western Railway which has been upgraded for these trains. There is the Australind running on that section as well but you wouldn't say that the Australind runs on the Armadale Line. The Armadale Line can be best described as a service using the South Western Railway between Perth and Armadale. --PhiH (talk) 10:32, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Finding sources for the common "Local Phenomena" complaint

If there are sources that record the phenomena of individuals complaining about accidentally boarding the Thornlie line, which is a verifiable occurance, they would help bring this particular experience of suburban life to light. 115.69.4.85 (talk) 09:13, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
