I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:31, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Images look OK. I rather suspect that File:Кирилівський монастир на мал. Ф. Солнцева, 1843.jpg is PD, rather than a CC license, but for our purposes that doesn't matter. Sources are all reliable.
Are the birth and death dates old-style, by any chance? I know Russia was using old-style dates at this period; I don't know about Ukraine.- Ukraine was the same - dates amended. Amitchell125 (talk) 08:22, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- Just to check, since I've come across this issue before -- the sources you have are clear that the 13 April and 26 July dates are new style? I recall a FAC where the source didn't specify, which means it could just as well be the old style dates they give. In those cases there's not much you can do except put in a footnote explaining the ambiguity.

- There was at least one online source where both dates for his death were provided, but only one of the dates for his birth was given, so I'm confident we're OK here. Amitchell125 (talk) 10:37, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
I don't understand how to tell the old from the new streets in the Podil district map.- Caption amended, hope this helps. Amitchell125 (talk) 08:31, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- That does it. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 08:40, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

"At the beginning In 1797": looks like some editing debris?- Thanks, now sorted. Amitchell125 (talk) 08:26, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
The timing of events in the "Decline in fortunes" section is confusing. We say that Vedel had no patron and became depressed after Levanidov was removed from his post in 1798, but Vedel left the army in October 1797 and was working for Teplov -- does Teplov not count as a patron? And would Levanidov still count as a patron if Vedel is no longer in the army? And we say the loss of Levanidov "coincided" with the decree by the tsar, but that's dated to May 1797, which is earlier than any of these dates.- I've done some work on this section, and have (hopefully) sorted out the issues you raised here. - I think that's much clearer. ~

Looks like you have the wrong link target for Hierotheus.- Link removed. Amitchell125 (talk) 08:31, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
There seems to be some tension between "Russian" and "Ukrainian" as adjectives for him and his work. If he's an archetypal Ukrainian composer, how can we also describe him as one of the composers of "Russia's greatest choral music"?- I'll check through the article to look for examples of what you are referring to here. The tension may be in part because the sources written before Ukrainian independence see composer and music from Ukraine as being essentially Russian, in contrast with what more recent sources (particularly those written by Ukrainians) have to say. Having said that, Ukrainian and Russian music have different styles, and Vedel was a Ukrainian, but living in the Russian Empire. I'll try to make that clearer. - I see you've addressed some of this issue already. Let me know when you're done and I'll have another look. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:08, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
- I've tweaked the text (Ukraine/Ukrainian/Russian used to try and reduce any tension). Amitchell125 (talk) 11:06, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
