Disputed
editPersonally, I can't see much wrong with this article - the facts as they are on the page at present are correct. But I've been phoned by someone from Arthur Barnett, saying that the article is factually incorrect. Sadly, the (shared) IP that Arthur Barnett uses has been blocked, so he couldn't edit the article himself. I said to leave details of what the article should say on the IP but (stupidly) forgot to get the IP number. If the person who phoned me is reading this, please email the inforation which should in your view be in the page to me. My email address is the same as my username - all lower case - followed by the "at" symbol and then the name of my isp (slingshot), which is itself followed by dot co dot nz. Cheers. Response
editThe 'negative slant' on the current company position and future seems to be the disputed issue. In particular the former reference to the company's future being in doubt. The articles looks to have been expanded and made more accurate. 07:10, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, since it seems to have been addressed, the disputed tag can be removed. Grutness...wha? 03:36, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Ownership
editUnder the 'Ownership' section of the article, the referenced passage was deleted:
However, in mid 2003, the company was purchased by South Island department store retailer H & J Smith Ltd.[1][2]
Both citations support the statement that H & J Smith purchased Arthur Barnett. I cannot find information showing a subsequent sale of the company. Who owns Arthur Barnett currently? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pear285 (talk • contribs) 03:33, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Fire
editFrom memory, with no verification, the famous sign kept going right through the fire. I remember the sign maker (Claude Neon??) taking a newspaper ad with the Arthur Barnett logo. After the fire various stores around town offered floor space for different departments.
