The cited source does indeed date the initial appearance of The Urban Pattern to 1951 ("His thinking is reflected in The Urban Pattern: City Planning and Design, 1951, reprinted in 1953 and then in revised editions with Simon and Stanley Eisner through 1993."). However, the book itself contradicts that 1951 date. The copy I have before me is copyright 1950, D. Van Nostrand Co., Inc. Its colophon states: "First Published August 1950; Reprinted May 1951." The Library of Congress's record, accordingly, gives the publication date of the first edition as "1950."
