- If you can find information from reliable secondary sources (ie not blogs, etc.) that provides info on this, why not add it in? Certainly his attitude shouldn't be hidden, but claims like this do need reliable sourcing. --Charlene 23:49, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- I just looked on line and aside from a Hotel that he was associated with that had a problem with Jews, there is nothing to suggest that he had a problem with Jews specifically. --Nosehair2200 (talk) 22:21, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Elephant
editI'd heard stories about the demise of his beloved pet elephant which supposedly was/is buried at Beacon Hill, including from one eyewitness. It seemed bizarre til I read more of his split personality. Is there verifiable information on that incident? Spunky1 18:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
In 1995, I was looking at property that was for sale in Beacon HIll. The agent showed me a large building that she said was for Arthur's elephants. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seeburg220 (talk • contribs) 22:00, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Signature song
editThere is no mention of his signiture song (unless I missed it) "Far Away Places" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.155.112.1 (talk) 18:20, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
UFO
editI understand that a pilot John S. Mark saw a UFO on 25 June 1954. However, none of the sources given in any of the revisions of the article mention Arthur Godfrey so unless there is a more informative print source about this encounter mentioning Godfrey, it shouldn't be mentioned in the article. However, this UFO siting from 1964 might be more notable in Godfrey's life and might deserve a mention. To me these claims only deserve about two sentences in the article at the most. I ask that you do not revert again - please discuss the UFO experiences here on the talk page. Graham87 15:10, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

David Garroway not Steve Allen was the first host of the Today show; furthermore the early morning program started in 1952, as I recall. CBS Washington (WTOP) hired me to counter program against Today in June 1953 and I replaced Bill Jenkins who began several months before.
First wife is mising in the table
editIt is written in the article that he had a first wife "Catherine" (no last name or date given). We tried to change it, but were not effective in our labors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.153.96.21 (talk) 14:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Removal of Paragraph
editIt is my opinion that the following paragraph does not belong in Godfrey's bio, it should be in Steve Allen's entry. Thought I'd go for other opinions before deleting it.
- On a memorable evening in 1953, up and coming New York TV personality Steve Allen was a last-minute replacement for Godfrey on Talent Scouts. When it came time to deliver the live commercial for Lipton tea and soups, Allen impulsively prepared the soup and tea on camera, and poured both into a ukulele. Shaking the mixture well, he played a few damp notes while reciting the rest of the commercial. Allen became a national celebrity and within the year he would become the first host of NBC's Tonight Show.

- Yeah, that makes sense to me. Graham87 05:20, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
