The Game of GO, the National Game of Japan

edit

"The Game of GO, the National Game of Japan" was first published in New York, April 1908, by "Arthur Smith". The Publisher's (Moffat, Yard & Company) Note (1956) mentions that the author "was one of the first Westerners ever to make a scientific study of Japan's ancient game of Go and that his classic work on the subject has never been surpassed for completeness, lucidity , and all-round excellence." Is this "Arthur Smith" the author, the same person as "Arthur Henderson Smith"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.215.160.100 (talk) 07:37, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I doubt it. Arthur Henderson Smith spent his career in China, not Japan. Smallchief 16:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
