Date of Death
editnot sure it's the same guy. Vic birth records have 2. The 46 year old death in 1915 http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article1490508 matches the 1868 birth not the 1871 one.
year number surname first names father mother birth place 1868 16400 Middleton Archibald John John Johnstone Margaret Geelong 1871 26968 Middleton Archibald James William Stevenson Margare Wangaratta
The son of William (1871) was probably in Sydney in 1915 when William died http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article15571330. Archibald James died in 1930. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article16720115 Next question is - is the footballer James or John? The-Pope (talk) 16:56, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- Aah, good spot. I did note that the age given to Archibald in the death notice didn't match the DOB but figured that was just sloppy reporting. And did you notice that only two stories below Middleton falling down a liftwell is another story of someone dying after falling down a liftwell? What the hell was it with liftwells in those days? --Roisterer (talk) 00:26, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
- There is a fair chance this player wasn't even named Archibald - see https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/list-thread-inaccuracy-in-official-records.1089761/page-34#post-51165383 where the evidence presented suggests he was Arthur William Middleton.
