Outside the Canon

edit

The article says:

[The book] contains "images outside the canon of photographs" that record the part of the group's history between 1968 with the 2 June Movement, and 1977.

"Images outside the canon of photographs" sounds vaguely impressive but, reading it, I had no idea of what it meant. Here's what it's quoted from:

RAF – No Evidence is not a historical project on the RAF but rather an exhibition about images outside the canon of photographs recording this conflict.

I think it means that there's a set of well known photographs of this conflict, a set so widely agreed upon that it may be called a canon; and that the images here are outside this canon. Though I'm just guessing. But if I'm right, then it's simply:

[The book] contains photographs that aren't particularly well known of the group's history between 1968 (with the 2 June Movement) and 1977.

Though I may just be suffering from caffeine deficiency. -- Hoary (talk) 23:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

That would be an improvement, thanks. I struggled with trying to do something similar, like "canon of [well known] photographs", but must have given up. -Lopifalko (talk) 06:08, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
I don't blame you. The artist tends to speak in, well, Artspeak, which tends to numb my brain after a certain time. -- Hoary (talk) 09:49, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
