On 22 August 2024, the user Wiki.Chikoo made a number of edits to the article that are problematic for various reasons:

  1. All edits refer to the use of the term Arya within the history of ancient India. This is explicitly and expressly not the topic of this article. As is clear from the name, the short description, the introduction, the disambiguation page and the main text; this article is only about the term within the history of ancient Iran. There are a number of articles on Wikipedia that deal with the shared Indo-Iranian history, culture and religion and the use and meaning of the term Arya in this context. This article does not!
  2. All edits lack scholarly sources to support the statements. This is a clear violation of Wikipedia's NPOV principle.
  3. The edits refer to the ‘Out of India’ hypothesis regarding the connection between the Arya and India. This hypothesis is not accepted by mainstream scholars, and the corresponding Wikipedia article makes it clear that it ‘has no relevance, let alone support, in mainstream scholarship.’ This again makes these edits a clear violation of Wikipedia's NPOV principle.

In addition, the edits are extremely poorly formatted. They break the established structure of the text, often for no apparent reason, and rarely adhere to correct grammar or punctuation rules. While the edits do not reach the level of vandalism, they betray a lack of understanding of the purpose of Wikipedia by using a highly idiosyncratic, hard to follow, essayistic, and personalistic writing style. They seem to reflect a stream of thought that the user had while reading the original article, rather than a serious attempt to engage with and improve its actual content. For these reasons, I opted for a complete revert of these edits. Kjansen86 (talk) 16:07, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
