I have added some citations, but have failed to find all that much about the facility before 1983. I did find a database on Tohoku University History (Archives), but with only about a third grade reading ability, trying to do searches in Japanese is beyond me. Hopefully someone with better Japanese can find something there. There is no doubt that there is a "Marine Biology Station (Asamushi)". It looks to me like the biology department was founded in 1922, and that the Marine Biology Station was founded in 1924. It also seems as though the Marine Biology Station is still in existence.[1] However, I have been unable to find anything about what buildings were rebuilt into the current aquarium, and how the handover happened, not to mention anything about the "aquarium" being open from 1924. There may be something in the Bulletin of the Marine Biological Station of Asamushi, but these cost money to get. Don Lammers (talk) 21:06, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
