I'm concerned about the use of the name "Chippewa" in this article. The name "Chippewa" originated in a French mispronunciation of "Ojibwa". The tribes that live near Ashland (Bad River and Red Cliff) identify themselves as "Ojibwa" or "Ojibwe". --Virginia Ryan 18:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

       COUNTIES?

Ashland is in ASHLAND COUNTY - it is the seat of Ashland County. It is NOT in Bayfield County. Two Ashlands in Wisconsin?

• Two* Ashlands? Since when? I grew up there and there's only one city/town of Ashland and as far as I know it's never extended into Bayfield county. Where did this info come from? There are no references listed relating to this info. I highly doubt the accuracy of this information. The City of Ashland is located along the lakefront of Lake Superior on Highway 2. There is no separate "Town of Ashland". If I'm wrong, someone please point me to the information that verifies these statements. Jarrett622 06:26, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

-Two Ashlands- There is a town of Ashland about 15 miles south. http://www.skcensus.com/census/wi/ashland.html provides a map of the townships in Ashland County.

Chippewa/Ojibwe

Following up on the concerns of VirginiaRyan I replaced the words Chippewa with Ojibwe. I don't believe Chippewa is a correct term, atleast that is what I have learned from living in the area. KellanFabjance (talk) 07:42, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
