Notability
editAsif is the most famous expert on the Soviet space program. Why is that a fashion model is "noteable", but an historian or scientist is not? This debate is tiresome, particularly since people's pages end up being deleted by some kid who has no expertise or knowledge about the subject.

Clean up templates
editI removed some of the tags on this article. Maybe there will be some actual discussion now, because a lot of random editing seems to be happening to this page. Siddiqi has been on NOVA, he's written some of the top books on the subject of Soviet space history, he's published in the JOurnal of the British Interplanetary Society and other peer-reviewed journals. If a porn star is "noteable" on wikipedia, why isn't a famous historian? Why is this page nominated for deletion? Why is it tagged as having no references when there are more than a dozen references? I'm tired of seeing this page practically vandilized without discussion. DonPMitchell (talk) 15:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you that most of the clean-up templates were no longer appropriate, but I'm not sure about removing the last {{like-resume}} tag. It still reads like a curriculum vitae to me, and the article needs better flow and more biographical details. But I don't feel that strongly about it, so I'll leave it up to editors more familiar with the subject. Thanks for your efforts, by the way. — Satori Son 16:10, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I suspect a lot of material was added in reaction to the not-noteable accusation. I think that material is OK, but I agree that more biographical information would be an improvement. From his website I see a link to this article that talks about him: http://www.sajaforum.org/2006/12/books_asif.html which woudl be a good starting place for more general information.
- As an historian, the information I really want to see is his body of work. So I added the link to his list of publications, which I hope will survive. DonPMitchell (talk) 18:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
