Lead developer
editDeLaCross3 (talk · contribs) - Ubisoft listed multiple developers for their games, and their games have always been a global production. Also see Ubisoft's page for Mirage and Shadow or other games like Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar, which also list a lot of studios as developers, but they always list their lead developer as the first in the list. Also, secondary, reliable source [1] clearly stated that Red Storm once more leads development, Ubisoft committed no fewer than eight studios to its creation. - OceanHok (talk · contribs) - Unlike other Ubisoft titles, Assassin's Creed Nexus VR was led by multiple studios rather than having a single lead studio. You can notice this when looking at the directors [2] (The Creative Director is based on Red Storm but the Game Director is based on Reflections). Wired is not a reliable source because multiple media outlets got the wrong information and spread the belief that Red Storm Entertainment was the only lead studio. You can find the correct list of studios on the official Ubisoft page for Assassin's Creed Nexus VR and Moby Games. DeLaCross3 (talk) 11:55, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Wired is a reliable source per WP:VG/RS. MobyGames is not a reliable source. ALL Ubisoft games are global productions. Also per this press release, Ubisoft itself clearly stated that Development on Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR was led by Ubisoft Red Storm. OceanHok (talk) 12:07, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- OceanHok beat me to it in posting the press release. Ubisoft making a clear statement about the development is an open and shut case. I've added the ref to the note and reverted to Red Storm as lead. - X201 (talk) 12:19, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- @X201 - Why can't the studios that developed the game be listed as "Developers"? They are listed as developers on the official Ubisoft page for the game. Adding those studios as "provided additional developement" makes it sound as if they didn't work in equal or almost equal capacity and that Red Storm did most of the development. That is not the case, and can be seen by the fact that the Game Director, Associate Game Director, Level Design Director, Associate Level Design Director, Art Director, UI Art Director, Technical Director, etc are not from Red Storm and if you count the people on the credits more than 60% of the people listed are not from Red Storm.
- I suggest to change the article to list all the developers or to change the developer from Red Storm to Ubisoft and then list the specific studios that took part. DeLaCross3 (talk) 09:46, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ubisoft itself did say Red Storm led development though, so it is apparent that the other studios did not "work in equal or almost equal capacity" as Red Storm. This infobox field is typically reserved for only the lead developer (Red Storm, in this case). OceanHok (talk) 11:26, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- "it is apparent that the other studios did not "work in equal or almost equal capacity" as Red Storm" - that is your personal interpretation and is not backed by any sources, as I said, look at the credits and you will see that the headcount is higher on developers not from Red Storm. The reason why Red Storm was communicated as the lead is because it being an American company was the one in conversations with Meta and it was also a decision from the Marketing team at Ubisoft since Red Storm was already know from having worked on VR titles in the past.
- The inbox field for many games is filled with the studios that developed the game (look at Diablo 4) that is why is titled "Developer(s)" and not "Lead Studio(s)" DeLaCross3 (talk) 14:50, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- How is it my personal interpretation when Ubisoft literally say Red Storm led development? I have provided one primary source and one secondary source. You have provided nothing other than the official website. Maybe you should go find a reliable source that shows all the studios worked in equal capacity. What we care here is verifiability, not truth. If Ubisoft and secondary reliable sources say Red Storm is lead developer, then it is, regardless of the actual truth. OceanHok (talk) 15:27, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not saying that Red Storm didn't led development, I'm referring to the fact that other studios worked in equal or almost equal capacity. Leading doesn't mean to develop most of the game. I also have provided 2 primary sources (official website and credits of the game).
- You still have not answered why crediting all studios that developed the game is wrong when it has been done for other games Wikipedia pages and it is how Ubisoft has credited it on the offical webpage. DeLaCross3 (talk) 16:00, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- Please show me a page in which 8 developers are listed equally in the infobox. We always only list lead developer. The only case in which developers worked "in equal capacity" is with something like Black Ops 6 when Treyarch led development of one part of the game, and Raven led development on the another (both are well covered by sources). We did not list all 8 Call of Duty support studios. We also did not list all 11 studios in the page for Star Wars Outlaws because Massive is billed as lead developer. We have credited the work of other studios through notelist, just that Red Strom got top billing. We can change the wording to The game is also worked on by the 7 Ubisoft studios to make the differences between them less clear, but Red Storm will still get the top and only billing because it was labelled as the lead developer by Ubisoft and the press. - But per the official website we should only list Paris as lead developer, no? Anyway, WP:OTHERSTUFF always exist. There is NO reason for us to list all 8 developers because your assertion is not supported by both the publisher itself, or any other secondary reliable sources, and we should ideally maintain WP:CONSISTENCY with other AC articles. There is really nothing more to discuss further. OceanHok (talk) 11:15, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
