editAssassination attempts of Hamid Karzai → Assassination attempts on Hamid Karzai — "On" rather than "of" is the correct preposition in this instance. While one speaks of an assassination of a person (eg. Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, an assassination attempt is on a person (eg. Assassination attempt on Martin Lee and Jimmy Lai). "Assassination attempts of Hamid Karzai" would only be correct if these were attempted assassinations that Hamid Karzai had himself carried out on others. Please also note that "assassination attempt on" gets 2,170,000 google hits compared to "assassination attempt of", which gets just 140,000 results. City of Destruction 13:14, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

""I would not call this a "good grammar catch". It surprises me that anyone thought that the original wording was correct.Royalcourtier (talk) 23:22, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

editUnder the article on Karzai it is stated that "The gunman, one of the President's actual bodyguards, and a bystander who knocked down the gunman were killed by the attacker, when Karzai's American bodyguards returned fire". This article suggests that the fatalities were caused by the gunman. That is improbable, as if he was shooting at the Americans he wouldn't kill himself; if he had been knocked down by a bystander he was probably no longer shooting; and Americans are known as being trigger happy.Royalcourtier (talk) 23:20, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
