Strong support as per the discussion mentioned, it is not an assassination An assassination is the "the act of deliberately killing someone especially a public figure, usually for money or for political reasons"- but there was no deliberate pre-meditated attempt to kill him, it was just a kidnapping gone wrong. And assassination is not the term used in English language sources, and so is not the WP:COMMONNAME. If Italian language sources call it an assassination, that is up to them, but almost all English language sources do not. This is the English language Wikipedia, and WP:COMMONNAME should match English language sources rather than translations of Italian sources. Joseph2302 (talk)09:52, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would not mind too much, either. I see, however, that news media tend to use the term "killing of" rather then "shooting of" when referring to it, so I still would prefer the first. Actually, even "assassination of" is found more than "shooting of", but mostly when referring to official Italian reactions or with ties to this Wiki article. Whatever the result, there should be a redirect from the other alternative. In other Wiki articles, there are quite a number of redirects from "killing of" to "shooting of" as well as the opposite way. --T*U (talk) 11:17, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
