IQ Test

edit

We have a far too verbose section on the IQ thing, including this: "How exactly he designed these puzzles to test something as numerical as I.Q. is unknown, but it is a testament to his cleverness and resourcefulness." WHAT? Real IQ tests are generally done useing a series of timed puzzles, so this makes no sense whatsoever. It should be removed. Plunge 03:11, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sarutobi AsumaAsuma Sarutobi – As pointed out in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga#Naruto_character_article_titles, the current names for articles about Naruto characters are inconsistent with the names used for other anime characters (Naruto characters use Japanese order for names, while most other anime characters have their name in Western order), as well not following the naming guidelines in WP:MOS-JA.

Asuma is the Third's son, hmm...

edit
Can Asuma use Earth Jutsu like Sarutobi could? Then he would have to have an affinity for Earth also right, like his father for instance? User:Dragonball1986
He's a wind jutsu user, and that's all we know. Element affinities can't be purely hereditary, or else how did they develop in the first place?
Elemental affinities aren't always hereditary, it seems to me, but it also looks like parentage probably has an effect on one's elemental affinity. For example, all the Uchihas had an affinity for fire jutsus, and from what I've seen, Haku's family had affinity for ice jutsus(combining wind and water). Or it could be that Sarutobi was so well versed in jutsus and has such great chakra control that he could draw from any element, but had a pronounced affinity for Fire jutsu and Earth jutsu... Another theory is that the elemental affinity itself is hereditary(meaning having affinity for the elements, rather than a specific element), and the element one is able to use varies from person to person, with a high probability of elements matching that of their parents(IE Sasuke's fire affinity).--Vercalos 07:44, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
What I don't like about them throwing in elements is that now, everyone is overthinking this. The writers left it vague as to what elements actually do when used, other than their effects on paper, and scattered tidbits with no currently logical link between them (eg: slicing wind attacks and electricity in the Chidori).
Basically, Haku's Ice was a combination of Water and Wind due to his bloodline trait, Hyoton. It was his kekkei genkai that ran in the family; the chakra affinity was not genetic on its own. As for the Uchiha, note that Sasuke's signature ability is of electric element, which nobody else in his family (to our knowledge) used. Or perhaps by "Uchiha Madara's chakra," Yoko was referring to electrical chakra. I really don't know...
Personally, I think that the writers weren't thinking this far ahead when they started the series and had no plans for an elemental system, then threw this in as an excuse to power up the Rasengan. So, don't overthink it. If it says that Asuma uses wind-elemental chakra, then by all means, ignore the Sandaime and picture Asuma with wind-elemental chakra.

That is probably the case. I wonder how they'll explain it, if they ever get around to it..--Vercalos 07:10, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the elemental chakra thing was added just to power up the overused Rasengan. However, we must remember that at the beginning of the series, the elements were mentioned as to be part of the Jutsu creation. What I think is that anyone may use any element Jutsu (Kakashi has used the five, if I'm not mistaken) but the new concept of elemental chakra helps so that the jutsus of certain element are more powerful. In other words, it's not that important.... Cancerbero 8 02:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't think Kakashi ever used fire or wind, but so far this is just speculation, stuff like this isn't going into the article anyways right? Algid 23:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's possible for anyone to use any type of element but everyone has an affinity for different elements simply meaning it comes naturally to the user —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.211.104.157 (talk) 01:55, 7 December 2006 (UTC).Reply
I have to agree with the anonymous user; Anyone can use any element, but there are elements which come easier to some.. I know Kakeshi has used lighting, water, and eath jutsus, and I think he's used fire jutsus.--Vercalos 06:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

no thats not true kakashi can only do all them because he has copied them all hence the name copy ninja kakashi HIS elements are lightning and maybe fire it's unknown if he has a second one but naruto has wind element and the element thing wasn't used to power up the over used rasengan

Deceased?

edit

Is this true? In chapter 327 it mentioned he was being taken to the hospital. Is there definite evidence that he is dead? The good folks on narutofan seem to think otherwise.

No, he isn't dead. Shikamaru said he still had a pulse, so he isn't dead (yet).

I just read a spoiler pg in ch. 328, Asuma dies and shikamaru lights up a cigarette in asuma's pouch and smokes it while crying. I honestly hope that he isn't dead. don't believe me? http://pokefreak.deviantart.com/journal/10429782/#journal Verde830 12:17, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Asuma dies in 328 (if the spoiler is true -- usually is if there is a whole translation and pics). He dies after his last puff of cig.

I've seen the spoilers. However, until the RAW is published this section should not be updated. I think spoilers have been wrong in the past. I think he's probably dead, but we should wait until we're sure.

It's official: Asuma is dead. *lights a cigarette* cough! cough! -Northridge10:26, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

What's the drill for putting it in the information box? I mean, is there a chance that people who watch the dub will stumble across it and be spoiled? Or is that none of our concern? RIP Asuma.

So who's the king??? MemoriesOfThePast2, 28 October 2006(UTC)

That has yet to be revealed. As far as the reader knows, Shikamaru was told in secret before Asuma died. It's not overtly stated.--Vercalos 03:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The children of Konoha. That has been revealed in a conversation between Shikamaru and his dad Shikaku. -- Seraphchoir 19:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Relation to Konohamaru?

edit

Article says Asuma may be his father or uncle. The Sandaime Hokage may be Konohamaru's maternal grandfather, in which case Asuma would be his second cousin? Just thought someone should mention that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 199.111.196.63 (talk)

What? How would they be cousins? ~SnapperTo 20:34, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

They wouldn't. If Sandaime were Konohamaru's maternal grandfather then Sandaime would have a daughter who would be Asuma's sister and Konohamaru's mother. Ergo, Asuma would be Konohamaru's uncle. I don't know where the cousin idea comes from. Maybe there's something I've missed?

Konohamaru is Asuma's nephew. It was officially revealed in chapter 330 yes true konahamaru also stated that when asuma died the last great ninja he looked up to had died so which means konahamaru is going to be the 7th hokage (it's true it is a widley known fact that he will be the 7th hokage after naruto)

really? Can you see the future?Jacce 13:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Main Character?

edit

Should he still be in the main character section. He is dead. Naruto is going to have more main characters appears and others die. I'm pretty sure most of the adults are going to die as the kids take over. This question cam to me when I was visiting other pages. Some have a deceased person page so maybe we should have one for all the important dead characters. What do you guys think--------Noman953

Firstly, he's listed under "Supporting", not "Main". With that said, I see no reason to relocate him since he's doing no harm being listed with the rest of his former team. Besides, he's still a driving force behind the current plot (Team 10 wouldn't be having a rematch with Akatsuki if Asuma had lived). If Team 10 ever gets a new sensei, then we can think about moving Asuma. ~SnapperTo 21:35, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Past Tense

edit

Should we be referring to him in the past tense? It is grammatically correct, however itll be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't read the latest chapters. Personally I think we should use the present tense throughout the page purely because of the spoiler. 142.167.171.189 15:10, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the fact that deceased shows in the infobox spoils it before the article gets into past tense.--Vercalos 18:39, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Parenthood

edit

Though Asuma is decesed, it should be added under his family listing, that he is expecting a child, carried by Kurenai. There is no evedence to arguee that the child being carried by Kurenai is not Asuma's. --- Dragon son

Wait for the thing to be born and given a name before adding it to relatives. ~SnapperTo 05:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Though it likely is, let's not start counting our chicks before they hatch (hmm, that somehow seems both appropriate and callous at the same time, cool). In the unlikely event her child is somehow killed (stabbed, maybe?), then he wouldn't be a notable relative, no is he one until he's actually born or at the very least named. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 05:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good points, very well. ---Dragon son

But now that I think of it, it was never stated that the baby Kurenai is carrying is Asuma's. ---- Dragon son

Quel horreur, Kishimoto does all this foreshadowing about Asuma and Kurenai, just to have Kurenai's kid be someone else's! For the purposes of this article, I don't think it's unreasonable to conclude that the kid is Asuma's, even if it's not officially confirmed. -- Seraphchoir 19:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Relationship with Kurenai

edit

Under the list of hints to his relationship with Kurenai, it should be noted that special consideration was given to who should tell her of Asuma's death, so much so that the Hokage elected to do it personally. Also, is it fare to say not to mention the ring, after all, like the ring, it was never actually stated that the baby Kurenai is carrying is even Asuma's, (despite all reasonable evidence points to it).----Dragon son

At this point, still speculation... What is present I think is enough to cover the foreshadowing that Kishimoto is giving us. -- Seraphchoir 19:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can we just merge him already

edit

Can we just merge Asuma already? His article is the shortest and the worst of the Naruto articles, he won't play a role in the series any longer, and nothing important would be lost if this article is merged. User:Artist Formerly Known As Whocares, 17:02 (Eastern Standard Time), July 30 2007 (UTC)

As long as no info is missing, he keeps his place in the Character Box at the bottom as to not screw with a nice set of order I don't care. Though (again in my minds effort to avoid adding people to the Konoha nin page) an article for Important Instructors would be nice.../shrug Like a Konoha 11 for instructors.TheUltimate3 21:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
