Notability

edit

I removed the "notability" tag, as no reason was given for it.
No-one has questioned the notability of Blind Guardian, or any of their previous 8 studio albums or 2 live albums.
The article does still need references.

Page Structure

edit

Among other small things, such as changing some of the format, I removed the song information at the top of the page because it was sloppily inserted. I combined it with the lyrical information and changed it to "Song Information," as well as changing some of the grammar to make it more professional. There is still no reference for it though, and I personally believe it should be removed (as well as the quotes from Hansi). I'll leave it to someone else to decide that though. Shouldn't this interview suffice as sourcing for the song information? I'm not sure it deserves a very extensive treatment but it can certainly be mentioned - after all, I think most articles concerning Blind Guardian's more recent albums shortly mention the subject of each song. By the way I don't know where the Hansi quotes came from. I am not going to find the source for everything people throw into this article. But I disagree with your claim that there is no reference - there is, and there was at the time you edited. Oops, I now see that quite a lot of information was removed and another lot added. All right, I agree - there's too much unsourced stuff. I'll see if I can find a source. Andreas Willow (talk) 12:01, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I found a Metal Sound interview that appears to be the source. Andreas Willow (talk) 12:13, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
All right, that helps a lot. Still, I feel the parts explaining what each song sounds like is not only unsourced but unnecessary. None of the other album pages have that, so I don't feel it's necessary here either. Thank you though for finding that. Zadion (talk) 02:32, 10 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I suppose that is because it hasn't been released yet, and people are interested in what it will sound like. Once it's released, reviews will discuss the sound and they can be referenced in a Reception section or so. But I cannot deny that it appears to be unnecessary indeed. Genre

edit

I'm getting a bit annoyed constantly seeing the edit war going on over the genre. I propose a "Style" section or something like that which talks about the various styles on the album - the symphonic metal presence in Sacred Worlds/Wheel of Time, speed metal in Tanelorn (Into the Void)/A Voice in the Dark, folk metal in Curse My Name, and progressive in Valkyries. Then just "power metal" can be put in the genre area. I'll do this myself if I can, but I don't have any references (not saying there aren't any - just that I haven't specifically looked), and I am not sure if they're needed. (Anybody who listens to the songs can hear the presence of these genres in specific songs, but it might be defined as original research.) Zadion (talk) 02:44, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reviews

edit

Someone has been systematically removing all not-entirely-positive reviews of this album. On two occasions, a review from Angry Metal Guy was uploaded to this page and both times it was deleted, not for notability reasons (notice that AngryMetalGuy.com's reviews are used on plenty of other pages). This page has nothing but positive reviews of this record, despite the record not having received all positive reviews. This should be rectified and the individual responsible 97.81.101.102 should be slapped over the back of the head for being an apologetic fanboy—or, more appropriately, banned from editing this page due to bias. --130.243.188.177 (talk) 16:19, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't know whether it is fanboyism or not that motivated the deletion of this review from wikipedia. However, I don't see a reason why that review needs to be deleted, and I have re-added it. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 23:30, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

A Voice In The Dark (demo version)

edit

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'm a little surprised by the lack of mention that this song was originally about Rand al'Thor and his insanity[1]. The lyrics were changed completely in the release version of the song to make it about Bran Stark and the 3-eyed raven[2]. Piccolo113 (talk) 21:49, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
