All-wheel drive

edit

The description of the all wheel drive is inconsistent with what is on the audi page

In what way? The VW "Synchro" 4WD transmission mentioned in the Audi article is a Haldex Traction system, as described in this article. Maybe the former article should mention Haldex by name though. Letdorf 10:27, 12 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Audi-A3-Second-Generation Interior.JPG

edit

Image:Audi-A3-Second-Generation Interior.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

3rd generation

edit

Does anybody know when the new, 3rd generation is comeing out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.159.100.224 (talk) 06:45, 28 September 2007 (UTC) Have'nt got a clue! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.74.97.195 (talk) 12:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

well said can somebody please update this page, audi are releasing the 3rd generation around sept/oct 2008, check their website etc there all ready taking orders, nothing major changed just new narrower grill and new headlights

This is hardly the "3rd generation", it's just a minor facelift to the 8P A3, much like the one given to the 8L in 2000. The true third-generation MQB-based A3 is expected in 2011 according to the June 2008 issue of CAR Magazine. Letdorf (talk) 21:19, 25 June 2008 (UTC).Reply
It's 2nd-Gen, facelifted. Worth noting that the latter-2008 and all 2009 models have a new 2.0TFSI (or now TSI) engine in North America - Model "CCTY" (and its sister, a PZEV) which has the same specs as the old engine models, but many different parts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.12.5.119 (talk) 22:50, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

2.0T FSI

edit

Hey, I own a 2006 A3 and i can tell u the 2.0 FSI is not N/A. The only narurally aspirated engine in the a3 is the 3.2 V6. The 2.0 is a forced induction inline 4. The turbo is a K03 turbo. The same turbo used on the 1.8T from the last gen VW's. The boost is set to about 20-24 PSI. There is no way a naturally aspirated 2 liter engine could make 200 Hp and 205 Torqe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.4.102.17 (talk) 09:51, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, your A3 has the 200PS 2.0T FSI (turbo) engine. However, there is also a 150PS 2.0 FSI (N/A) engine which was available, in Europe at least, from the launch of the Typ 8P in 2003 and has now been replaced by the 1.8T FSI. Letdorf (talk) 11:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC).Reply

The external link that was added and then removed is useful and should be included. Considering Audi's expansion into TDI, the link provides reviews, details of the TDI engine, and information on the new TDI model. As such, it is more relevant than the other 3 links that were not removed. CCBB5 (talk) 13:42, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are several reasons to not include your link, the first being that your only edits so far are adding external links. The second one is that FAQ is hosted in a forum and is therefore unreliable information. The third is your complete lack of context, your links are not being used to either expand on or serve as reference to what is already on this article. Basically, what you're doing is coming to Wikipedia to promote your own website instead of improving the articles. --Pc13 (talk) 20:46, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I am new to wikipedia. I have since fixed the problem by adding the relevant information directly to wikipedia. The engine list did not contain any mention of the optional CEBA 143 PS diesel engine or the piezo element fuel system. The link was posted to expand on the missing specifications of the A3. The information is not hosted in a forum, the page referenced does not even allow comments. It's a review and FAQ about the A3 TDI and is no different than the Road & Track review or the About.com review.CCBB5 (talk) 03:38, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Audi rs3 (sic) merge

edit

I suggest the Audi rs3 (sic) article be deleted, per the WP:CARS policy regarding unannounced models (ie. WP:CRYSTALBALL). If and when an RS3 is officially announced, then it should justify its own article (cf. Audi S3). Letdorf (talk) 13:32, 20 August 2009 (UTC).Reply

I've now merged the content (such as it was) from Audi rs3 into the appropriate section of this article, renamed the page to Audi RS3 and made it a redirect to that section. Letdorf (talk) 12:51, 25 August 2009 (UTC).Reply

Please stop adding infomation about the RS3 it is still a rumour and has not been confirmed by AUDI what so ever, so should not be included in the article untill it has been. Regards

17th August 2011: In my opinion the Audi RS3 Sportback is a separatly credited model to the A3. Merging the article Audi RS3 Sportback into the Audi A3 article, would mean that also the Audi S3 should be merged into the Audi A3 article, surely this would cause Audi A3 to become too long? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.152.192 (talk) 21:57, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The S3 and RS3 are only derivatives of the Audi A3, and would be much better both of these being merged into the main article to allow easier comparisons of spec and performance improvements. Warren (talk) 22:51, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I suppose if you put it like that, It would make sense to merge them then I'll get onto doing it right away. 23:45, 17 March 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.14.209.134 (talk)

The article has been successfully merged. 00:24, 18th March 2011

More info on the RS3 is needed such as only available as a 5 door sportback, no manual limited to 500 units a year etc —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.122.233 (talk) 12:20, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image proposal

edit

The Sportback photo could replace the current one as it far less reflective and blurry. The current saloon photo could also be replaced with the grey one for the same reason as well as less distracting background. Thoughts? --Vauxford (talk) 22:24, 9 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
