Verification needed

edit

I'm finding more items in these dates articles that are not consistent with other Wikipedia entries. For example, where does this "fact" come from: 1803 – Lewis and Clark start their expedition to the west by leaving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 11 in the morning. I could not find this reference in the Corps of Discovery or Lewis and Clark articles. And it sounds a little too cute. The expedition formally started at the Mississippi, according to numerous sources. Pittsburgh, and 11 a.m., seem like a joke.108.33.72.18 (talk) 18:12, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Poor taste advertising

edit

I thought that in the home page the rule was not to reference birthdays of living people. So why the advertising on behalf of an actress? It seems that protecting the page and allowing only the administrators to edit it is not enough to keep out biased interests. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.163.89.132 (talk) 13:03, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Poor taste tabloid information

edit

There is enough spam in all the media and tabloids around about Diana. Bringing to Wikipedia tabloid content is a bad idea. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.163.89.132 (talk) 13:09, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Too many quasi-celeb international athletes?

edit

The inclusion of many international athletes, regardless of notable accomplishments, has made the birth lists too long, and too cluttered to be a valuable resource, IMHO. Perhaps there should be a "notability" requirement as in the Events, rather than merely having a Wikipedia article. national trail mix day

edit

the concept is just listed without justification, and the article on 'trail mix' mentions no 'day'. should be deleted as unsupported. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 13:06, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I would like to request an external link to the trivia site This Day Trivia.
This Day Trivia has been around in one form or another since 1989 (DOS program, BBS, WWW) and has an extensive trivia database organized by day of year. It is similar to the other external links and I believe would add value to this Wikipedia site.
Thanks in advance,

Addition of "Release of Hatsune Miku"

edit

Hatsune Miku, the first of the Character Vocal Series, was released on August 31st, 2007. This is featured in the Japanese version of this page, and August 31st is widely celebrated as her "birthday" across the Vocaloid community. I believe it should be added into the English version of this page, however, the decision is ultimately up to you. KiwiKong6464 (talk) 23:57, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request correction to Births

edit

  • What I think should be changed (format using {{textdiff}}): in Births, 1811 – Théophile Gautier is listed on the August 31 page, but Wikipedia in fact lists his birth as August 30
  • Why it should be changed:
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Th%C3%A9ophile_Gautier
