Pink Floyd's First Album On August 5

edit

I am writing this to ask why Pink Floyd’s first album should be removed for the August 5 page. Are you deputing the fact that The Piper at the Gates of Dawn did not come out on this day. Well check The Piper at the Gates of Dawn Wikipedia page if you want to check the facts. Also you might say that this is just trivial and of no importance to the page, I would have to disagree with that statement because it is not. On that day Pink Floyd revolutionized Psychedelic music and eventually Progressive Rock. So in short it is important and should be there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.74.208.196 (talk) 14:05, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:DOY. This sounds like a fine item for Portal:Music/Anniversaries/August, but not for this page unless you're arguing this album fits "major works of art and architecture recognized on a global scale". IMO, it better fits (from the list of not notable items) "Dates that pertain to television programs, movies, books, video games, etc. - this is not notable on a global scale (exceptions include the breaking of world records for sales, etc.)." Perhaps others might comment. -- Rick Block (talk) 17:46, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well Mr. Block it seems that you have not been checking your facts because that album charted all over the globe.--72.74.208.196 (talk) 18:55, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see this discussion before removing the entry (because I've removed so many like it in the past), but it doesn't belong anyway. For the most part, no album release is sufficiently notable for inclusion on a date page. They don't rise to the level of long-term global notability required for inclusion. Charting all over the globe is not enough. It is not an historic event. It's not much more than trivia. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 12:54, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oak Creek Sikh Temple Attack in 2012

edit

Hi - I am new to Wikipedia editing and I would like to understand why my edit to the history page for August 5th, specifically the addition of the Oak Creek Sikh Temple attack, was removed. I believe my edit was corrected to have proper format and it fits the guidelines because it is a significant crime. I also note a similar crime event, the Charleston A.M.E. Church attack, is currently listed on the history page for June 17th. Thanks! 94608Katsu (talk) 06:50, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

"National Underwear Day"

This is clearly a commercial promotion. Should be deleted. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 19:45, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

so no problem with deletion? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 15:02, 12 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
