Talk:Australian Sports Commission

edit

Just to clarify some of the changes that have been made to the Australian Sports Commission page:

  • The ASC falls within the Australian Government portfolio of Communication, Information Technology and the Arts - it is not, however, a part of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). As a statutory authority, the ASC is not a part of any department. It reports and works closely with DCITA, but it is not a part of the department. Being within a portfolio and being part of a department are quite different.
  • In 2005, a restructure of the ASC took place, whereby the various 'groups', 'programs', 'departments', etc... were renamed. As a result the Sport Performance and Development Group was renamed to be a 'division'. The ASC now has four divisions, with Sport Performance and Development being one of those divisions. It is no longer the Sport Performance and Development Group. The ASC's own website hasn't been completely updated to reflect these changes yet.
  • When talking about the Active After-school Communities program, it should be referred to in that way. i.e. it is called the 'Active After-school Communities program'. This is how the ASC refers to the program.

Merger of Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport

edit

Hi there! The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) website says that the ASC is the result of the merger of Sport Australia (SA) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Based on the branding, I'd say that the Commission took the Sport Australia branding, while still becoming a different agency (AIS wasn't merged in SA, but AIS and SA were merged together, then ASC was renamed to SA)... Are we all okay if I update this article like this? ItsPugle (talk) 04:43, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
