Expand
editThis is a pretty cursory look at a rich and interesting genre. It could do with a lot of expansion - I'll make a start, but it'd be good to get some help... Tpth 00:53, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Hey Tpth, i'm keen to expand this page too. Do you have any ideas for layout?--Theinnerexits 12:59, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I was thinking of making a new entry for 1990-1999 (this was the golden era of Oz alt rock..... well for me anyways), then go onto 2000 - present. Also for layout, does anyone object if I break down of the 'scenes' per city, including bands, labels and popular venues etc? Then build it up where there was a large Alt/Indie scenes around Australia.--Theinnerexits 07:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree with totally re-writing 1990-1999. The article at the moment really makes no sense to anyone who lived through this period. Mention needs to made of 1. the Fauves and Polydor, 2. The mavis' rise to the top, 3. the bidding war in 1995 on "Automatic" . 4. The meanies and Pearl jam. Deleting mentions of "clag" a band no one has heard of would be a good start. The entire 90s section I think was written by desperate washups mentioned in the article. It's an embarassment to everyone and hardly an accurate account of an entire decade of Australian indie rock music history.
