Aviron Bayonnais FC
editAs you can see on his French Football Federation profile, Laporte never played on Aviron Bayonnais FC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.158.222.213 (talk) 22:43, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

This page is not up to date, the person plays on a different soccer team now. I request access so that I may make this file as current as I am able to.

- Not done for now:: Although the transfer is now highly likely, it has not been completed as verified by reliable sources. As soon as it is, due to the high profile of the deal there will be no shortage of confirmed editors ready to make the relevant changes. Thanks. Crowsus (talk) 00:58, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Why mention Iñigo Martínez?
editIt doesn't effect Laporte's move, seems pointless to mention Mertinez. Govvy (talk) 18:03, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- One transfer was a direct consequence of the other, same position, same day, used the money received, and was a significant transfer in itself at 30 million. If it had been weeks or even days later then fair enough, but since there was a matter of hours between them I felt it was sufficiently relevant to include (the source title even includes 'as Laporte replacement'). But, whatever. Remove if you prefer. Crowsus (talk) 18:47, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- They had him lined up to buy anyway, I don't think it really effected it that much, it just means instead of buying in the summer of 2018, just means they could aquire him earlier. It's more club news and not Laporte's news so much. Govvy (talk) 18:51, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- Not sure about that to be honest, of course he was one of their biggest targets but it seemed like he would also go to City or Barça, I doubt Athletic would have paid that much had they not received such a massive fee and lost their best defender making it a more pressing matter? Would they have moved for Iñigo if they had 20 million from Kepa but still had Laporte? Anyway maybe you know more about the background of it and I'm totally speculating. Agree it's more club news, seemed logical to me to mention it very briefly but can see your point too.
- Anyway hopefully some City fans will keep this article updated, I found Kompany's looking very neglected a few weeks back! Crowsus (talk) 20:11, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- Well, unless there is any article saying Laporte is a future replacement for Kompany, something along the lines of.. Kompany being like Ledley King, wrapped up in bubble-wrap! Or something, well... Govvy (talk) 20:20, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

He currently plays for Spanish national team. Please change the details. 86.0.165.71 (talk) 10:43, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

References 51, 52 and 53 all reference the fact that he plays for the Spanish team. No new reference is needed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.57.240.81 (talk)
- The article clearly mentions in multiple places that he plays for Spain. I don't believe any further changes are needed. If you want a specific change made, you'll need to request the specific thing that needs changing/adding. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:37, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

editPlease update Laporte’s imagine Nguyencongphuong10 (talk) 09:52, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, that requires a more recent image to be available on Commons, and despite his high profile at club and international levels, at present I don't think there is one. Crowsus (talk) 00:48, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Spanish Footballer
editSince he now represents Spain and has ancestral connections there. Surely it is perfectly acceptable to put Spanish in the lede? Otherwise it looks silly with no nationality. I think we should honour his FIFA international allegiance decision.
- He isn't fully Spanish, so to imply that he is would be the 'silly' thing. There is consensus to omit ambiguous and potentially confusing multiple nationalities from the opening sentence adjective, and fully explain the circumstances further down, which has all been done here. Crowsus (talk) 00:13, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I see Wikipedia has this rule now yes. However, he still is fully Spanish. You can't be a bit of a nationality. If by not fully Spanish you mean he has only partial ancestry then there are other Spanish players such as Adama Traore that have no Spanish ancestry yet are still Spanish footballers. So I don't see why Laporte isn't 'fully Spanish' yet Traore is. Not your doing I understand just something wiki has wrong in my book, wiki should just call players what their international allegiance is.
- His allegiance is not to a country ! He is tied to Spanish Federation, not Spain. And he is legally French and Spanish.--Frenchl (talk) 21:54, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
