Eurovision Island

edit

Thread moved from Talk:Eurovision Song Contest 2014#Eurovision Island
According to the official sources, host broadcaster DR have stated that the surrounding area of B&W Hallerne will be transformed into an Eurovision Island. One editor has mentioned creating a new article for B&W Hallerne (which they have gone ahead and done so anyway, as the previous wikilink directed to the company as a whole (Burmeister & Wain) and not the venue building itself. I was wondering though if it would be more appropriate to rename the article Eurovision Island which will then be able to provide details on the entire complex including press centre etc, and not just the contest venue. Any objections or better proposals? WesleyMouse 17:31, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

It would appear that the venue area will be renamed "Eurovision Island" for the entirety of the contest. WesleyMouse 19:35, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Eurovision.tv has closed the articles they've published today with the phrase "The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will be held at the B&W Hallerne on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen on 6th, 8th and 10th of May.". One of the articles being about the history of B&W Hallerne (http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=89903&_t=bandw_hallerne_-_from_industrial_stronghold_to_eurovision_venue). It seems clear to me that B&W Hallerne is officially the individual venue that will host the 2014 Contest. From my understanding, Eurovision Island is a temporary "brand name" that has been coined to refer to Refshaleøen Island during Eurovision weeks, as the contest and all official services for fans and press members will be concentrated on the island. In an interview to Executive Producer Pernille Gaardbo (http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=the_executive_producer_grilled_-_this_is_why_we_chose_copenhagen), she states, "The entire Refshaleøen will be transformed into a so-called "Eurovision Island" where we will gather Danes, the participants and the many fans and members of the press from all over Europe.", so-called she says. A picture set published today by Eurovision.tv titled Eurovision Island - Refshaleøen (http://www.eurovision.tv/page/multimedia/photos?gal=89893) has the following underlying text: "Pictures of the Refshaleøen, which will be transformed to Eurovision Island in time for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. The event will be broadcast from the B&W Hallerne on the island." So a difference is made between the island (Refshaleøen) and the individual venue (B&W Hallerne). I would further develop the already created Eurovision Island section in the Refshaleøen article including details on how the island will be transformed for Eurovision. But I think it can co-exist with an article on B&W Hallerne as an individual venue. Xelaxa (talk) 18:29, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) I'll sort out a redirect for Eurovision Island, so that it lands on Refshaleøen, Copenhagen#Eurovision Island. WesleyMouse 18:36, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Done - I've sorted the redirect. And expanded Refshaleøen even further by adding an infobox and a few images. I've also added the Eurovision template to the article seeing as it now falls under our project scope. WesleyMouse 19:19, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
