Notability

The notability for the B1149 road is surely established in the fact that this road is the only direct route between the town of Holt and the city of Norwich. The route is very busy at commuting times for the purpose of travel between these two destinations. For reference purpose to this fact pleases note the reference to the A to Z atlas of the area, or for that matter any good road map will prove the point. The town of Wiveliscombe in Devon has no direct A road links to anywhere else, but that does not make the B3227 notable, why should it be any different for the B1149? For reference, Wiveliscombe only has under 1,000 less inhabitants than Holt. I personally think that pages such as "B roads in Devon", and "B roads in Norfolk" would be a good idea, with short paragraphs about each B road (which is essentially what these 3 B road articles are). But that's not a discussion for here, it should be bought up on the UK Roads Wikiproject. Jenuk1985 (talk) 19:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

This is a far different reason to the example that you use. Norwich is the only city in Norfolk and as Holt is a town were many people commute to the city for there work, with the consequence that this particular road is as busy as any of the A Roads that feed into the city. The roundabout close to Norwich Airport were the B1149 joins the A140 from Cromer, most mornings has a long queue of traffic waiting to join the A road into Norwich, many mornings, far exceeding the queue on the A140 Cromer road.There has already been some discussion already about this road along with the other B roads in Norfolk such as the B1159 road,B1156 road, B1436 road, the last two, I notice you have also tagged. Three of these pages had to be protected as one editor was not happy to go along with a consensus that had already been reached by several contributors to these pages, and an administrator, so I would like to know why you feel you must stir this up once more. And as I am sure you are aware there has been much discussion at UK Roads Wikiproject were the consensus is never going to be reached as opinions are very 50-50 concerning ‘B’ roads.  stavros1  ♣  22:04 28 September 2008 (UTC).

Again, if you wish to establish Notability on how busy it is, there is also the B4121 in Birmingham, regularly suffers from congestion at rush hour, but still not notable. A more rural example, to parallel with the road in question is the B4084, Pershore - Evesham and Pershore - Worcester, heavily used by commuters, but still not notable. Even more rural, look at the B roads that run between the A30 and A394 in the West Cornwall area, no reasonable A road alternative connecting towns of reasonable size, but arguably still not notable. I have found this road was the major route fadens map between Holt and Norwich and in medieval times the road was used to transport goods to the Port of Cley next the sea which at the time was one of the major ports on the East of England coast. Faden’s map highlights the road in pink. These are two points that add to the notability of this road despite the opinion of Jenuk1985. I have removed his tag once more because I disagree that this road has no notability. Like many roads in the UK most references to roads are maps. This does not make them any less use as a source of reference or as a reference to a roads notability..  stavros1  ♣  17:31 09 November 2008 (UTC).
